International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratoryمعرفی
Temple Douglas serves as a Research Fellow at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), where she works in the Ultrafast Bio-and Nanophotonics research group led by Jana Nieder. Her current work focuses on developing novel multimodal diagnostic techniques for early cancer detection under Portugal's "Health in Portugal" Recovery and Resilience Plan initiative.
Her academic background includes:
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2018) from Virginia Tech and Wake Forest Universities
- Bachelor's degree in Physics from Princeton University with specializations in Materials Science and Biophysics
Douglas specializes in creating physical characterization methods for biomarkers, with prior research yielding two significant diagnostic innovations: a nanoparticle-based Lyme disease urine test for low-abundance protein detection and a label-free tumor-cell separation device that isolates cells by aggressiveness while maintaining viability. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans nanophotonics, biophysics, and clinical diagnostics development.
As an active member of INL's Ultrafast Bio-and Nanophotonics group, she applies physics and materials science principles to advance prescreening technologies for oncology applications.
