Taylor Ricketts is the Gund Professor at the Rubenstein School of the Environment and Natural Resources, University of Vermont, and Director of the Gund Institute for Environment. His work bridges ecological and socioeconomic systems to address global sustainability challenges. He co-founded the Natural Capital Project, a collaboration between universities and NGOs to map and value natural benefits, and contributed to UN-led ecosystem assessments.
Education: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University (2000), B.A. in Earth Sciences and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College (1991). Research focuses on ecosystem services, ecological economics, conservation biology, and environmental policy. Notable roles include leading WWF’s Conservation Science Program and advising global conservation strategies.
His research emphasizes the links between nature and human well-being, such as forests’ role in disease control, pollination’s impact on agriculture, and equitable resource management. Awards include AAAS and Ecological Society of America Fellowships.
