استادیار · Controlled rocking systems for earthquake resilience
University of New Brunswickمعرفی
Dr. Taylor C. Steele is an Assistant Professor and Acting Chair in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. A professional engineer (P.Eng.) specializing in structural and earthquake engineering, he leads research on seismic resilience of building systems.
He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from McMaster University (2019) and a B.Sc.E. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick (2013).
Research focuses on controlled rocking systems for earthquake resilience, advanced seismic simulation techniques, risk assessment for structures, mitigation of higher-mode effects in tall buildings, and experimental testing of structural components. His work contributes to developing safer building standards for seismic regions.
Recent publications (2024) concentrate on implementing controlled rocking systems in Canadian building practices, analyzing ductile connections in precast structures, and refining lateral load modeling techniques. Earlier work established foundations for seismic performance evaluation of nonstructural components and collapse risk assessment.
Professional service includes participation in CSA S16 Clause 27 Task Group 6 and the Currie Scholarship Selection Committee. Teaches CE 3063 (Structural Steel Design I) and CE 5063 (Structural Steel Design II).
