Tatjana Bartsch is Deputy Head of the Photographic Collection at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History. She holds a PhD in Art History and German Literature from Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Pisa. Her research focuses on 16th-century Italian and Dutch art, Renaissance drawings, reception of antiquity, and the history of photography. She has led major projects like Faktizität und Gebrauch früher Fotografie and authored/co-authored books on Maarten van Heemskerck's Roman sketches and early photography archives.
