Tasheka Arceneaux-Sutton is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design and Creative Technologies at Vermont College of Fine Arts, where she also serves in the M.F.A. program. She founded Blacvoice Design, a studio focusing on branding, media, and publication design with a strong typographic emphasis. Her research critically examines Black representation in graphic design history and media, addressing omissions and stereotypes.
Education: M.F.A. in Graphic Design from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and B.A. in English Writing from Loyola University New Orleans.
Research interests include reconstructing marginalized Black designers' contributions to the field, analyzing visual stereotypes in media, and exploring typography's socio-cultural dimensions. Her work bridges historical critique with contemporary design practice, advocating for inclusive narratives.
Publications include essays in Baseline Shift and Design in Culture, a forthcoming piece in Documenting the Nameplate, and a co-authored book Black Design in America (2023). She critiques systemic erasures in design history through interdisciplinary approaches.
