Tasha Philpot is a Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Liberal Arts, with affiliations to the Center for African and African American Studies, Institute for Urban Policy Research & Analysis, and Center for Women’s and Gender Studies. She earned her PhD in Political Science from the University of Michigan and teaches courses like Afr Amer Women Pol Activism and Politics Of Title IX.

Her research investigates how marginalized groups navigate democratic systems, combining political psychology with racial and gender analysis. She explores topics such as Black conservatism, voter behavior, and racial cues in campaigns, supported by National Science Foundation grants.
Recent publications address survey research integrity, diversity normalization, and Black political psychology, reflecting her interdisciplinary focus. She has authored 3 books, including Conservative But Not Republican (2017), which examines ideological-party dissonance among African Americans.
