Taru Koivisto is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Arts Helsinki, affiliated with the CERADA research center and cERAda research network. She currently serves as a postdoctoral researcher in the project "Performing the political: Public Pedagogy in Higher Music Education" (2023–2027), funded by the Research Council of Finland, and has held roles including visiting researcher (funded by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, 2023) and researcher-developer in the Kreativ personcentrerad vårdkonst project at Åbo Akademi (2021–2024).

Research Interests: Koivisto's work centers on the interdisciplinary nexus of arts in health, cultural well-being, and public health, with emphasis on socially engaged music practices across healthcare and educational settings. Her expertise includes hybrid learning environments, health promotion strategies, and social justice applications, demonstrated through projects like telehealth music therapy mapping and the Economic Evaluation of Cultural Health and Wellbeing (ArtWell).
Teaching and Advisory Roles: She has served as responsible teacher for Open Campus courses including "Perspectives into arts therapies" and "Introduction to music teaching as a profession", and will lead "Musicians as societal actors" during 2025–2026. Her extensive teaching portfolio reflects mentorship in music therapy and arts education contexts.
