Tarrant M. Mahony

Tarrant M. Mahony serves as Associate Professor of Law and Director of Temple University's School of Law's Online LL.M. in International Business Law and Beijing LL.M. Program. He has been instrumental in developing Temple Law's global initiatives since founding the Beijing program in 1999.

His academic credentials include a J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law, M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University, and B.A. in Asian Languages and Literature from Stanford University. He maintains active membership in the State Bar of California.

Professor Mahony's research centers on Property law, International Business Transactions, and Chinese Foreign Investment Law. He authored the authoritative textbook Foreign Investment Law in China: Regulation, Practice and Context, widely used by legal professionals and business practitioners. His expertise is enhanced by professional fluency in Chinese and Japanese languages, enabling direct engagement with East Asian legal frameworks.

Prior to academia, he held senior knowledge management positions at O'Melveny & Myers (Director of Knowledge Management and Training) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Knowledge Management Lawyer), bridging practical legal industry experience with academic rigor.
