Tarfia Faizullah

Tarfia Faizullah is a poet and educator, currently serving as the Nicholas Delbanco Visiting Professor of Poetry at the Helen Zell Writers’ Program, University of Michigan. Her work has been translated into Bengali, Spanish, and Chinese, and appears in prominent periodicals and anthologies internationally. She co-directs the Organic Weapon Arts Chapbook Press and Video Series with Jamaal May.

• Education: BA from University of Texas at Austin, MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University

Her research and creative practice centers on poetry, with a focus on cross-cultural dialogue and literary translation. Her first book, Seam (SIU 2016), received multiple accolades, and her second collection, Register of Illuminated Villages, was anticipated for release in 2018.
