Tareq A. Ramadan

Dr. Tareq A. Ramadan is an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University's Media Department, with affiliations in Anthropology and Near Eastern Studies. He has taught over 10 courses since 2007, focusing on Islamic civilization, Middle Eastern politics, and archaeology. His research spans archaeolinguistics, historic preservation, and early Islamic history. Dr. Ramadan is also a cultural competency consultant, expert witness in immigration courts, and project manager for the Malcolm X House Historical Preservation Project, which secured a National Register listing and $380,850 in grants. He has collaborated with institutions like Brown University and the U.S. Department of State, and led archaeological excavations at the Malcolm X House site with WSU's Anthropology Department.

Education: B.A. in Anthropology, M.A. in Near Eastern Studies, Ph.D. in Anthropology (Wayne State University, 2017).

Research: Specializes in early Islamic numismatics, Ottoman maps, and the intersection of archaeology with language and power structures. Recent projects include analyzing Umayyad seals and documenting artifacts from Malcolm X’s former home in Inkster, Michigan. He actively works on transforming the site into a museum, recovering items like 1950s-era coins, household objects, and building materials.
