Dr. Tarek Soliman is a Research Fellow at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and a fellow of SEFARI. He specializes in applied economics focusing on agricultural, environmental, and natural resource management challenges, particularly biosecurity, climate change mitigation, and sustainable land use. His work integrates economic theory with policy development, emphasizing interventions like disease outbreak management and environmental performance evaluation. Active in projects such as the SEFARI Fellowship and EPIC IV (Scottish Government’s animal disease expertise center), he collaborates globally with stakeholders in the UK, EU, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand.
His research spans topics including fungal antimicrobial resistance mitigation, avian influenza policy impacts, and carbon footprint analysis of animal diseases. Notable contributions include cost-benefit analyses of land-use transitions in New Zealand and frameworks for evaluating environmental policies.
