Dr. Tara Zaksaite is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Bournemouth University, specializing in cognitive psychology, memory, and attention. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Plymouth's CogNovo Doctoral Training Centre in 2017. Her research spans interdisciplinary and monodisciplinary environments, focusing on individual differences in cognitive abilities and their relation to anxiety and navigation.
- Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, University of Plymouth (2017)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, Open University (financial skills education)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Plymouth (navigation cognition)
Her research explores two primary strands: (1) the relationship between anxiety and spatial memory in real-world navigation, and (2) mechanisms of anxiety maintenance through generalization processes. She employs both controlled laboratory experiments and applied field studies, integrating machine learning techniques to analyze cognitive data. Her work bridges experimental rigor with practical applications for complex behavioral problems.
Publications demonstrate expertise in causal learning, redundancy effects, and cognitive determinants of navigation. Current projects investigate how anxiety influences spatial memory for emotional information and how item similarity affects responses to novel stimuli.
