Tao Zha is the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Economics at Emory University and Executive Director of the Center for Quantitative Economic Research (CQER) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota (1992) and has held academic positions at institutions including Tsinghua University and the University of Saskatchewan. His research focuses on macroeconomics, financial economics, and the Chinese economy, with emphasis on structural vector autoregressions, regime-switching models, and DSGE frameworks.
He has served as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and has been recognized as a Fellow of the Econometric Society (2017) and International Association for Applied Econometrics (2019). Notable contributions include work on monetary policy transmission in China, nonlinear macroeconomic dynamics, and the impact of fiscal and monetary policies on economic fluctuations.
Zha’s academic service includes roles as Editor of Quantitative Economics, Associate Editor of Econometrica, and leadership in conferences such as the China International Conference in Finance. His research has been featured on prominent platforms including the American Economic Association and NBER homepages.
