Tao Ye

Tao Ye is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. His expertise spans catalytic water treatment, disinfection byproducts (DBPs), and the application of machine learning to water quality prediction.

  • B.S. in Water Supply and Sewage Engineering, Wuhan University of Science and Technology (2006-2010)
  • M.S. in Municipal Engineering, Tongji University (2010-2013)
  • Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, George Washington University (2014-2018)

Research Interests: Tao’s work focuses on Pd-based catalytic hydrogenation for water treatment, emerging unregulated disinfection byproducts, and machine learning-driven water quality modeling. His research integrates advanced catalytic methods with computational tools to address water sustainability challenges.

Teaching: He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses including Environmental Engineering Unit Operations and Processes (CEE 426/526), Aquatic Chemistry (CEE 692), and Environmental Engineering Biological Process Design (CEE 427/527).
