Dr. Tanya Alderete is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University, primarily affiliated with the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering and the Department of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on environmental exposures and their impacts on metabolic health, particularly obesity, type 2 diabetes, and neurodevelopment, with a multidisciplinary approach integrating epidemiology, clinical research, and omics technologies. She has led NIH-funded projects investigating air pollution, PFAS, and microbiome interactions in early life. Notable awards include the Tony McMichael Mid-Career Award and the Rosenblith New Investigator Award.
Her education includes a PhD from the University of Southern California (2014) and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (2005). Her work has produced over 100 publications, emphasizing longitudinal studies on environmental pollutants, maternal-infant health, and metabolic pathways.
