Tanvi Taparia

Tanvi Taparia serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, Section of Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Science. Her research program focuses on harnessing plant-soil-microbe interactions to develop sustainable Food & Agriculture solutions, driving the green transition of food systems through microbial applications.

Her academic qualifications include:

• Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology (2016-2020)
• M.Sc. in Biological Science (2011-2014)

Dr. Taparia's research spans Microbial Ecology, Soil Ecology, Plant Pathology, and Chemical Ecology with emphasis on plant microbiomes, soil health, food safety, and circular agriculture systems. Her work integrates molecular biology and environmental microbiology to address agro-ecological challenges through SynComs (Synthetic Communities) and waste valorization approaches.

Her 2023 publication on plasmid transfer mechanisms reveals critical insights into genetic exchange within plant microbiomes, highlighting implications for sustainable agricultural practices and biocontrol strategies through microbial community design.

As co-founder of the BIO Postdoc Network, she actively mentors early-career researchers through professionally organized events while leading her 'Plant-Microbiome' research team in developing biopesticide solutions via soil bacterial community characterization.

Current initiatives include a startup venture for biopesticide discovery through large-scale isolation and screening of soil bacteria to create synergistic microbial consortia for disease prevention in agricultural systems.
