Tanveer Zia

Professor Tanveer Zia serves as the Head of Computer Science at the University of Notre Dame Australia and holds the position of Professor. Previously, he was the Associate Director and founding member of the Centre of Excellence in Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (2021–2024). Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Charles Sturt University, where he was Professor of Computing and Associate Head of the School of Computing, Mathematics, and Engineering. He is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a Member of the Australian Computer Society (MACS).

His research focuses on cybersecurity, digital forensics, and computer science education. He has contributed to academic leadership, institutional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration in security sciences. His work includes policy development, curriculum design, and advancing digital investigation methodologies.

Professor Zia has authored book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers, and has engaged in media commentary on cybersecurity issues. His professional affiliations include roles in academic governance and community outreach. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sydney.
