Dr. Tanner Judd is an Assistant Professor of Plant and Soil Science in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at West Texas A&M University's Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. He joined the faculty in 2025 and teaches undergraduate/graduate courses in Plant, Soil, and Environmental Sciences, including Fundamentals of Soil Science and Soil Fertility. He also coaches the WT Soil Judging Team.
Education:
- B.S. in Agroecology, West Virginia University
- M.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences, Oklahoma State University
- Ph.D. in Soil Science, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2025)
Research Focus: Dr. Judd's work centers on optimizing soil health and nutrient management in integrated cropping systems. Key interests include enhancing soil organic matter persistence, mitigating manure nitrogen losses, and improving on-farm nutrient use efficiency through sustainable agricultural practices.
Service: Actively contributes as coach of the WT Soil Judging Team, supporting student development in field-based soil analysis and evaluation.
