Tania Y Márquez

Tania Y Márquez serves as a Lecturer and DLE Credential Program Advisor in the Department of Dual Language and English Learner Education at San Diego State University. She recently assumed this dual role after providing over five years of departmental support through CAST test evaluation and assistance to DLE 416 faculty.

Professor Márquez's expertise centers on language education with demonstrated focus areas:

• Bilingual teaching methodologies
• English learner instructional strategies
• Spanish as a Second Language pedagogy
• Heritage language curriculum development
• Culturally responsive classroom practices

Her teaching approach is informed by personal experience as a borderlands immigrant and over a decade of college-level Spanish instruction.

Outside academia, Professor Márquez is a mother of two teenage daughters with personal interests spanning foreign cinema, poetry, and cultural linguistics.
