Tanhua Jin is a full-time postdoc researcher and Visiting Fellow in the Department of Spatial Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in Geography from Ghent University (Belgium) and is affiliated with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Urban Mobility Doctoral Training Network. From February to July 2023, she was an academic guest at ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on accessibility, transportation equity, and the integration of travel behavior with the built environment, leveraging big data, machine learning (e.g., XGBoost), and GIS technologies.
Key projects include the EU-funded ENHANCE initiative (2024-2027), investigating barriers to 15-minute city principles in urban outskirts. She has presented at major conferences like the American Association of Geographers (AAG) 2024 Annual Meeting and the EIT Urban Mobility Annual Forum. Her work spans topics such as bike-sharing utilization among older adults, metro-rideshare integration, and carbon footprint analysis in urban contexts.
Skills include advanced statistical modeling, spatiotemporal data analysis, and visualization using Python, R, and GIS tools. Current roles include collaboration with supervisors Eric Koomen and Erik Verhoef, and contributions to interdisciplinary urban mobility research.
