Tanguy Gernot

Tanguy Gernot is a Researcher at CNRS and a member of the SAFE team at the GREYC laboratory (University of Caen). He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Caen (2022). His expertise spans Biometrics, Digital Forensics, and Cybersecurity, with a focus on protecting biometric data, forensic tool development, and privacy preservation.

Education: PhD in Computer Science (2022), University of Caen. Thesis: 'Biometric masterkeys' addressing vulnerabilities in biometric systems through genetic algorithm attacks and masterkey design.

Research Interests: Biometric system security, fairness evaluation, digital trace analysis, forensic platform development, and privacy-invasive behavior measurement. He co-supervises PhD research on bias in biometric systems (with C. Rosenberger and C. Charrier).

Publications: Recent works include robust biometric schemes against replay attacks (2024), bias estimation in biometric systems (2024), and forensic tool development for digital investigations. His research bridges cybersecurity, forensics, and algorithmic fairness.

Responsibilities: Communication manager of the SAFE team (2023–present), former elected member of the MIIS doctoral school and GREYC laboratory councils (2020–2022), and former seminar organizer (2020–2023).

Teaching: Teaches forensic tools, OSINT, cryptography, and algorithmics at the University of Caen and Ensicaen. Courses include 'Digital Identity', 'Embedded Cryptography', and 'Web Programming'.

Projects: Co-developed the open-source digital investigation platform G'DIP (2024) and contributed to the IANEC project on digital archives preservation (funded by French Ministry of Culture).
