Tan Temel is an Associate Professor at Yildiz Technical University's Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Music and Performing Arts, where he has taught since 2001. He concurrently holds teaching positions at Istanbul University State Conservatory Ballet Department and Bahçeşehir University Conservatory Musical Theater Department, and serves on the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Diploma Programs Dance Curriculum committee.
His academic credentials include:

Temel's research bridges artistic practice with scientific inquiry, focusing on dance physiology, choreographic innovation, and interdisciplinary art-science integration. His work examines neural and physiological responses in performance, advancing educational methodologies in creative arts through evidence-based approaches that connect movement studies with cognitive science.
His distinguished awards include:

- Theater Critics Association Best Theater Award of the Year for 'Ben Bertolt Brecht' (2012)
- 17th Sadri Alışık Cinema and Theater Actor Awards Special Selection Committee Award for 'Supernova'

As principal investigator for two research projects, Temel established CoArtS Art and Science Researches Innovation Inc. at YTU Technopark in 2021 to pioneer art-science collaborations. His leadership extends to co-founding TORK Dance Company and serving as Artistic Director of Florence's L'O.ffcina Dance Company (2011-2014), where he cultivated environments for experimental performance research and cross-disciplinary artistic development.
