Dr. Tan Lling Lling (Carynn) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Monash University (2015) and previously worked as an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University. Her research focuses on designing advanced photocatalytic materials for environmental remediation and energy generation, including CO2 reduction, water splitting, and nitrogen fixation. She has published over 60 papers in high-impact journals, achieving an h-index of 30 and 10,000+ citations.
Education: BEng (Hons.) and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Monash University (2012 & 2015). She contributed to the Academy of Sciences Malaysia's 2015–2017 Nanotechnology Foresight Report and received the 2017 IChemE Malaysia Young Researcher Award. Recent projects include developing Z-scheme photocatalysts for water splitting and nitrogen fixation.
Research Interests: Photocatalytic materials, CO2 utilization, advanced nanomaterials, and sustainable energy solutions aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals. She leads projects like 'Rational Integration of Hierarchical Photocatalysts' and 'Selective Photo-driven Nitrogen Fixation'.
Awards: 2023 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research, PVC's Award, School of Engineering Award, and Vice-Chancellor's STEM Research Excellence Award. Recognized as a Young Scientist (2021) by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
