Dr. Tan Gan is an Assistant Professor of Managerial Economics and Strategy at the Department of Management, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University (2024) and a B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University (2018). His research focuses on mechanism design, contract theory, robust design, and digitalization, particularly in principal-agent frameworks and organizational economics. He has published in top journals like the Rand Journal of Economics and Journal of Economic Theory, and his work addresses challenges in data economics, persuasion, and strategic interactions.
Dr. Gan has received notable awards including the George Trimis Prize for Distinguished Dissertation (Yale, 2024) and the Carl Arvid Anderson Prize Fellowship (Yale, 2021–2022). He serves as a referee for leading journals such as Econometrica and American Economic Review, and has organized academic events like the Young Economists Symposium (2022). His teaching experience includes courses on managerial economics and microeconomic theory at LSE and Yale.
His research explores topics such as robust pricing strategies, dynamic mechanisms for experience goods, and the optimality of quota rules in persuasion. Current projects include studies on career concerns in robust contracts and delegation mechanisms in multi-agent systems.
