- 1982: Diploma, Hungarian College of Fine Arts, Department of Applied Graphics
- DLA (Doctor of Liberal Arts) degree
Felsmann's research and creative work spans nearly all areas of design graphics. He was among the first to recognize the artistic potential of computer technology following the political changes in Hungary. His work encompasses exhibition design for international country image exhibitions, corporate identity design for major Hungarian companies, typography, book design, and large-scale custom artworks for hotels. His creative philosophy emphasizes the integration of technical proficiency with significant intellectual activity, expecting students to be informed across many areas, think contextually, and develop problem-solving attitudes.
Felsmann's creative output shows consistent excellence across decades, with particular strength in exhibition and poster design. His work demonstrates mastery of both traditional graphic techniques and digital media, with recent series exploring architectural heritage, Bauhaus influences, and homages to artists like Paul Klee and László Moholy-Nagy. His publications primarily consist of exhibition catalogs that document his participation in national and international graphic art biennales.
- National Design Graphics Biennale Grand Prize winner six times (1986, 1990, 1992, 1994, 2012, 2018)
- Recipient of two lifetime achievement awards (2008, 2016)
- Munkácsy Mihály Award (1995)
- Osaka International Design Festival President's Prize (1983)
- Multiple awards from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and other institutions
As an educator, Felsmann has supervised thesis work since 1991 and has served as Doctoral School Theme Supervisor since 2013. He formulated an important educational philosophy emphasizing student participation in real competitions rather than fictitious tasks, believing this prepares students for professional practice. His leadership roles include membership on the University Admission Committee since 1986, Diploma Judging Committee since 1991, and Credit and Credit Transfer Council since 2005. His creative work is represented in major collections including the Hungarian National Gallery, Moravska Galerie Brno, and the Japanese Design Foundation.
