Tammy S. Gordon is a Professor in the Department of History at North Carolina State University. She specializes in public history, modern U.S. history, and historical memory. Her research examines the intersection of leisure economies, commercialization of commemoration, and transnational cultural practices. She is the author of three books, including *The Mass Production of Memory: Leisure Travel and Personal Archiving in the Age of the Kodak* (2020) and has published extensively on topics like aikido's internationalization.
Education: Ph.D. in American Studies from Michigan State University.
Research focuses include historical memory, leisure economies, and transnational cultural history. She leads the community-curated project *NC HB2: A Citizens’ History* and advises doctoral students in public history and modern U.S. studies. Her current research explores the growth of aikido dojos in the U.S. during the 20th century.
Advising: Supervises 6 current doctoral students and has graduated 4 Ph.D. advisees since 2021. Office hours are held Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
