Dr. Tammy Hoffman serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology within the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she joined in 2021. Concurrently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology at Trine University in Indiana. With 27 years of prior experience in South Florida secondary education spanning teaching, counseling, academic advising, and administration across both Christian and public schools, she has taught university-level Psychology courses since 2011.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Atlantic University
- MA in Human Services: Marriage and Family from Liberty University
- BA in English from Florida Atlantic University
Dr. Hoffman's scholarly work centers on grief counseling and its intersection with Christian faith, evidenced by her book 'Journey through the Wight Stages of Grief' written after her husband's 1991 death by drunk driver. She frequently speaks at Women's Retreats, chapels, and events on grief processing and Christian topics, emphasizing Psychology's real-world applicability in worldview formation and career preparation for students.
Her advising philosophy focuses on guiding students through pivotal life stages including worldview development, career decisions, and personal relationships. She integrates her Christian faith into all professional aspects while maintaining active church participation in Indiana.
Outside academia, Dr. Hoffman enjoys family time with her two married daughters and three granddaughters, along with traveling, boating, kayaking, and exercise. Her personal journey through grief continues to inform her teaching and speaking engagements.
