Dr. Tammy Eger serves as Vice-President, Research and Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at Laurentian University, bringing over 25 years of applied research expertise in occupational health and safety and industrial ergonomics. She co-founded the Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH), the Workplace Simulator Lab, and Ontario's first mobile occupational health and safety research laboratory, establishing herself as a leader in translating academic research into practical industry solutions.
Her academic foundation includes:
- B.Sc in Biology, Queen's University (1995)
- B.P.H.E. in Physical & Health Education, Queen's University (1995)
- M.Sc. in Biomechanics, Queen's University (1998)
- Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Queen's University (2007)
Dr. Eger's research program centers on applying ergonomic and human factors principles to industrial settings, with groundbreaking contributions to occupational vibration science. She pioneered documentation of whole-body and foot-transmitted vibration exposure in mining environments and investigated critical relationships between working posture, line-of-sight visibility, and mobile equipment design. Her interdisciplinary work extends to injury prevention and worker wellness initiatives, addressing complex occupational health challenges through collaborative approaches.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a cohesive research trajectory focused on vibration exposure assessment, biomechanical modeling, and safety culture analysis. Her work spans from foundational studies of foot-ankle vibration response to applied research on vibration attenuation technologies and mining safety recommendations, demonstrating consistent commitment to evidence-based workplace interventions.
Her scientific achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards:
- 2024: SWAAC Angela Hildyard Recognition Award – Influential Leader
- 2019: Top 5 Laurentian Research Innovation Award for International Leadership Program for Women in STEMM
- 2018-2019: Homeward Bound 4th Cohort Leadership Program
