Dr. Tamara J. Cook is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Sam Houston State University, holding a Ph.D. in Entomology from Texas A&M University. Her research specializes in eugregarine parasites of insects, conducting taxonomic surveys to understand host-parasite relationships, community structures, and biogeographical patterns. Field studies in the Big Thicket of East Texas characterize gregarine diversity in damselflies, crickets, and aquatic insects.
Additional work includes avian helminth studies in conservation contexts and morphological adaptations in orthopterans. She teaches General Zoology, Parasitology, and Field Parasitology, integrating research into undergraduate education through field-based learning.
