Tamara Hamilton is a Professor of Chemistry and Associate Dean for Grants and Sponsored Programs at Barry University's College of Arts & Sciences. She joined Barry in August 2008 and teaches courses ranging from General Chemistry to Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, including service-learning programs.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Iowa (2005)
- B.Sc.(H) in Chemistry from Acadia University (2001)
Her research focuses on:
- Mechanochemical synthesis of porphyrins
- Metal-organic polyhedra with porphyrin walls
- Supramolecular chemistry using non-covalent bonds
- Green chemistry methods
Recent publications highlight trends in solvent-free synthesis and environmentally friendly approaches. Awards include the Service-Learning Faculty Award (2014) and the Cottrell College Science Award. She leads NSF-funded S-STEM grants to support STEM education and collaborates in international mechanochemistry initiatives.
