Tamanna Shah is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ohio University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She is based at Bentley Annex 107 on the Athens Campus and is actively involved in teaching, research, and public scholarship.

Her research centers on decolonial and postcolonial studies, political sociology, social movements, human rights, and the sociology of artificial intelligence. She explores how power, inequality, and resistance manifest across global contexts, particularly in South Asia. Her work integrates feminist, critical, and comparative perspectives.
Dr. Shah is currently editing the Handbook on the Sociology of Artificial Intelligence with Emerald Publishers, a major interdisciplinary project that investigates AI's societal impacts. Her recent publications span topics including gender in conflict, development policy, and media representation, reflecting her broad intellectual engagement.
