Talat FİRLAR is an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Beykent University, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and the Department of Computer Engineering. He also serves as Coordinator for the Institute of Graduate Education. With a career spanning over three decades, he previously held roles at Istanbul University as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Expert in the Department of Computer Technologies under the Vocational School of Technical Sciences and Faculty of Economics.

His research focuses on Information Systems, IT Literacy, and Technology in Education. Key themes include E-commerce, Health Informatics, and Total Quality Management in business contexts. His work bridges Computer Engineering and Public Health, particularly through studies on health literacy during pandemics like H1N1.
At international conferences such as SGEM (International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference) and Systems Engineering and Defense Applications Symposium, he has published on topics like Technoparks in industrial policy, IT literacy in Turkey, and collaboration between schools and industry. These papers highlight his interdisciplinary approach.
He has supervised over 40 theses across diverse areas including Machine Learning applications, Microservices architecture, Healthcare data analysis, and Leadership in Human Resources. His advisees' work reflects his broad academic interests and mentorship of emerging researchers.
