Taisir Elgorashi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Engineering at King’s College London, part of the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences. She holds a PhD in optical networking from the University of Leeds (2010) and completed postdoctoral research there (2010–2014), focusing on energy efficiency in optical networks and renewable energy integration. She was a BT Research Fellow (2012) and previously lectured at the University of Leeds.
Research Interests: Dr. Elgorashi specializes in optical communication networks, energy-efficient systems, network optimization, and machine learning applications. Her work contributed key energy efficiency measures adopted by the GreenTouch consortium. She leads the EPSRC-funded TOWS project for 6G LiFi systems collaborating with Airbus, BBC, Microsoft, and pureLiFi.
Awards & Roles: Recipient of IET’s 2016 Best Paper Award, Fellow of HEA, and serves as Associate Editor for IET Optoelectronics and IEEE Transactions on Green Communications. She co-chairs IEEE’s Green Communication symposium and chairs the IEEE P1929.1 standard working group.
Grants & Collaborations: Principal investigator in UK government-funded projects improving telecom sustainability. Active in interdisciplinary initiatives through King’s Centre for Telecommunications Research and Climate & Sustainability programs.
