Prof. Dr. Tahir KAHRAMAN is a Professor in the Department of Medical Biochemistry at Karabük University's Faculty of Medicine and has served as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry since March 2024. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Yüzüncü Yıl University (1998) and a Bachelor's in Veterinary Medicine from Istanbul University (1991). His career includes academic positions at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Adıyaman University, and Karabük University, advancing from Assistant Professor to full Professor in 2019.
His research focuses on medical biochemistry, particularly the effects of medicinal plants (e.g., propolis, juniper, olive leaf) on oxidative stress, diabetes, and organ toxicity (liver, kidney, brain) in experimental models. He employs biochemical and immunohistochemical methods to study antioxidant mechanisms and therapeutic interventions.
His publications predominantly explore natural compounds' protective roles against toxins (e.g., pesticides, chemotherapy agents) through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory pathways. Recent work emphasizes diabetes management, nephro/hepatoprotection, and oxidative stress modulation.
He has supervised 12 graduate students (7 international) and directed 22 research projects funded by TÜBİTAK and universities. Administrative roles include Department Head, Vice Dean, and membership in ethics committees. He is affiliated with the Turkish Biochemistry Association.
