Taeyoung Kim is a Lecturer in Communication and Media at Loughborough University, affiliated with the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture (CRCC). He joined Loughborough in 2022, after serving as a Term Lecturer in Qualitative Research in Communication at Simon Fraser University, Canada.
He holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University, where his thesis, “The State’s Roles in the Development of Cultural Industries: Korean Cultural Industry Policies from 1993 to 2021,” examined how the Korean state navigates global market forces in cultural production through interviews and discourse analysis.
His research focuses on the interplay between global and local dynamics in cultural production within the platform era, with emphasis on policy frameworks and qualitative methodologies.
Teaching expertise includes qualitative and applied research methods in communication. His work is indexed on Google Scholar.
