Professor Tuba Direkci is affiliated with Gaziantep University since 2007, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. She earned her PhD in Economics from Çukurova University (2006) and holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Economics from Marmara University.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on macroeconomic relationships including energy consumption (oil, renewable energy, natural gas, electricity) and economic growth, tourism economics, inflation dynamics, and econometric modeling with structural breaks and panel cointegration techniques. She explores connections between CO2 emissions, macroeconomic indicators, and socio-economic development.
Academic Contributions: She has published 6 articles on OECD and non-OECD country analyses, examining energy-growth nexus, tourism-growth linkages, and environmental impacts. Her research trends emphasize empirical macroeconomics, energy policy, and international economic relations.
Teaching & Mentorship: She teaches advanced macroeconomics, econometrics, and inflation theories at graduate and undergraduate levels. She has supervised 27 theses (4 doctoral, 23 master's) on topics like external debt, public expenditures, tourism impact, and macroeconomic indicators.
Projects & Duties: She contributed to EU-funded projects on regional innovation (2019) and metrology infrastructure (2017). She served as Domestic Head of Department at Gaziantep University and held administrative roles since 2020. She also acts as an Independent board member at OBA Makarnacilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. since 2024.
