TJ Rainsford

TJ Rainsford is a Lecturer and Director of the iConsultancy Experiential Learning Program at the University of Maryland’s College of Information Studies. With over 27 years of IT industry experience and leadership roles, he combines executive expertise with academic instruction. He previously served as faculty at Mount St. Mary’s University and contributed to iConsultancy at UMD. His education includes a BA in History & Philosophy, an MA in History, and a PhD in Information Studies (in progress) at UMD, focusing on experiential learning in information science programs.

Research interests span Data Privacy, Sociotechnical Cybersecurity, Data Science, Analytics & Visualization, Digital Humanities, and the Future of Work. His work bridges industry practice and academic innovation through programs like iConsultancy, which emphasizes hands-on learning for students.
