Søren Strandskov Sørensen is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, Aalborg University, within The Faculty of Engineering and Science. His research focuses on disordered materials, glass structure, and mechanics, particularly in areas like thermal conductivity, fracture toughness, and solid-state electrolytes.
He has led and participated in significant projects, including 'Preventing Micro-Cracks in Amorphous Solid-State Electrolytes for Batteries' (2022–2025) and 'Fundamentals of Thermal Properties of Oxide Glasses' (2018–2022). His work spans experimental and theoretical studies, with over 87 publications and 6 scientific awards, including the 2023 Best PhD Prize and Danish Ceramic Society PhD Prize.
Key research interests include medium-range order analysis using topological data methods, thermal properties of oxide glasses, and structural modifications in metal-organic framework glasses. His contributions have been highlighted in media, including coverage of his work on glass fracture mechanics and topological data analysis.
