Szu-Feng Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Hampshire. A globally recognized designer, she integrates unconventional materials through a 3R (recycle, reuse, reduce) framework while maintaining artistic excellence in visual storytelling.
- Education: B.F.A. in Set Design from Taipei National University of the Arts, M.F.A. in Design & Technology from the University of Texas at Austin
- Leadership: Director of Design and Theatre Technology at UNH
Her research focuses on sustainable design practices and theatre technology innovation. With over a hundred theatrical productions across 20+ countries, her work has been showcased at prestigious events like World Stage Design (2022, 2009, 2005) and Prague Quadrennial (2023, 2007, 2003).
Recent productions demonstrate her versatility in costume design and set construction for contemporary musicals, classical adaptations, and cross-cultural works. Notable themes include:
