Sylvie Beaudoin is a full Professor in the Department of Physical and Health Education within the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Sherbrooke. She has held this position since 2021, following her role as Director of the Bachelor's Program in Physical and Health Education Teaching (2019-2021) and earlier as a Teaching Professor (2010). Her academic journey at the University of Sherbrooke began with her doctoral studies, where she earned her PhD in Education in 2010 with research focused on responsibility in physical and health education.
Dr. Beaudoin's research interests center on physical education, health education, teacher training, professional development, and the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model. She has made significant contributions to understanding school-based physical activity interventions, particularly examining barriers and facilitators to implementation in secondary schools. Her work has increasingly addressed the impact of the pandemic on physical activity patterns among youth and educational adaptations required during this period.
Her research portfolio demonstrates a strong focus on practical applications, with numerous projects examining how to effectively implement physical activity programs in schools, develop teacher capacity, and create supportive environments for student physical activity. She has secured substantial funding from multiple sources including the Ministry of Education, FRQSC, FRQNT, and SSHRC.

She has been instrumental in several major research initiatives including the Kino-Québec Research Chair on adopting a physically active lifestyle in school settings (2018-2023), which received $625,000 in funding. Her work often involves collaborative teams examining how to optimize the implementation of daily physical activity programs in schools and address challenges in physical and health education.
