Sylvia S.O. Angtuaco

Sylvia S.O. Angtuaco, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics — Division of Cardiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), affiliated with Arkansas Children’s Hospital since 1996. She leads the Echocardiography Lab and specializes in pediatric cardiology, particularly echocardiography and 3D/4D imaging technology. Her clinical expertise includes diagnosing congenital heart defects, valvular heart disease, and irregular heartbeats.

Dr. Angtuaco completed her medical degree at Brown University, residency at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, and fellowships at Washington University in St. Louis and Boston Children’s Hospital. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Cardiology and holds memberships in the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography.

Her research spans echocardiography technology, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and nanotechnology’s impact on agricultural health. Recent work includes studies on tetracycline destructase enzymes and risk assessments for carbon nanotubes in farming.

Dr. Angtuaco’s clinical practice focuses on pediatric patients with congenital heart defects, emphasizing state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques. She is fluent in English, Filipino, and Tagalog and accepts new patients via referral.
