Sybren Drijfhout

Professor Sybren Drijfhout is a Chair in Ocean & Earth at the University of Southampton, specializing in Oceanography, Climate Science, and Earth Systems. His research spans the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), ocean heat transport, and climate tipping points, with current projects including Interacting Ice Sheet and Ocean Tipping and ArctiCONNECT. He leads EU-funded initiatives like Blue Action and contributes to NERC's SMURPHS.

• Sea-level rise uncertainty and coastal impacts
• Antarctic shelf temperature variability
• High-resolution ocean-climate modeling

Supervision: Currently supervising PhD student Harry Benjamin Ashton-Key in the Physical Oceanography group.
