Svetoslav Dimov

Svetoslav Dimov is an Associate Professor at the Department of Genetics, Faculty of Biology, Sofia University 'St. Kliment Ohridski'. His research focuses on bacterial genetics, molecular cloning, and probiotics, with a particular emphasis on lactic acid bacteria and their roles in dairy products. He has contributed to advancements in cloning vectors, such as the pSDTV system, and studied the proteolytic and safety profiles of Enterococcus strains in traditional cheeses. His work bridges molecular genetics with applied microbiology, addressing topics like antimicrobial resistance, cheese fermentation dynamics, and Antarctic microbial ecosystems.

Key research interests include bacterial genetics, molecular cloning techniques, and the functional analysis of probiotic strains. His publications span studies on Enterococcus isolates from Azerbaijani and Bulgarian dairy products, genomic characterization of pathogenic bacteria, and metagenomic analyses of cheese and Antarctic microbiomes.
