Sverre Johan Herstad is a Professor at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography, University of Oslo. His research focuses on regional innovation systems, evolutionary economic geography, and industrial policy. He teaches courses in economic globalization, regional development, and sustainability transitions.
His research interests include the dynamics of regional innovation, labor markets, and the interplay between industrial development and policy frameworks. His recent publications analyze regional diversification through trademark data and innovation strategies for economic resilience.
Professor Herstad has held academic positions at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences and research roles at Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU).
