Suzanne Petersson is a licensed psychologist, psychotherapist, and researcher affiliated with Samrehab (Region Kalmar County) and Linnaeus University's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She holds a PhD and has over 20 years of clinical experience in eating disorders, adult psychiatry, and chronic pain management. Her research focuses on eating disorders, chronic pain, and prolonged grief, with a particular emphasis on perfectionism's role in eating disorder development and treatment. She leads the DAHLIA project, a multinational initiative designing digital interventions for chronic pain, and evaluates the Affect School as a supplementary treatment for eating disorders.
Her current projects include a longitudinal study on psychiatric symptoms and appetite-regulating hormones in anorexia nervosa, and the psychometric validation of the Grief Related Avoidance Questionnaire (GRAQ). She collaborates with institutions like Karolinska Institutet, Uppsala University, and Stanford University in the DAHLIA consortium.
Teaching responsibilities include supervising Linköping University's Scientific Methodology course and delivering CBT-focused psychotherapy training through CBT-Sydost.
