Suzanne Lundvall is a Professor of Pedagogy and Associate Professor at The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH), Stockholm, Sweden. She is currently on leave of absence for a professorship at the University of Gothenburg. She also chairs the GCI Association, an organization supporting female physical education teachers through scholarship funds. Her research focuses on public health, outdoor life, gender studies, sports didactics, and sustainable development in physical education.
Her academic career includes a PhD from GIH (2003) and long-term employment as an Associate Professor (2012–present). Lundvall’s work examines curriculum design, teacher competence, and the integration of sustainability into educational frameworks. She has led projects funded by institutions such as the National Agency of Education and the Swedish Research Council, focusing on topics like physical literacy, migration background impacts on education, and youth sports equity.
Lundvall’s publications highlight her contributions to redefining health education through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and exploring creative pedagogies in dance and outdoor activities. Her research often bridges theory and practice, addressing systemic challenges in physical education and advocating for inclusive, holistic approaches.
Her grants include funding for studies on culturally diverse students, youth physical activity trends, and sustainable PE curricula. She collaborates internationally, contributing to Nordic cross-country research on educational policies. Lundvall’s expertise extends to the social dimensions of elite youth sports and the intersection of gender and migration in educational outcomes.
