Suzanna Fay

Associate Professor Suzanna Fay is the Deputy Head of School and Co-leader of the Justice and Society Research Cluster at the University of Queensland's School of Social Science. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington, specializing in comparative crime studies, immigration, and methodological approaches. Her research focuses on three core areas: comparative crime perception across communities, gun regulation dynamics in Australia, and child maltreatment reporting systems. Her work consistently integrates sociological perspectives on race and ethnic stratification.

Key projects include analyzing gun control impacts on firearm dealers (funded by the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia) and evaluating trauma-informed AI frameworks for social services. She has contributed to major reports on parole systems and hate crime reporting, emphasizing community engagement and police legitimacy. Fay frequently presents at international conferences like the American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting and delivers keynote addresses on gun policy and criminological research.
