Susanne Binder is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University's School of Humanities, affiliated with the Department of History and Archaeology and the Australian Centre for Egyptology. Her work bridges Egyptology and 19th-century German expedition studies. She has taught German Studies and Egyptology, receiving prestigious teaching awards in 2012 for contributions to student learning.
Her research focuses on New Kingdom Egypt, particularly administration, society, and material culture, alongside the history of scientific exploration. She leads the Macquarie Theban Tombs Project and the Weidenbach Diary Project, collaborating with institutions like the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy.
