Susannah Kingwill is a PhD candidate and Associate Lecturer at The Courtauld Institute of Art, specializing in late medieval French court culture. Her doctoral research examines crosses as religious and political symbols at the Valois Courts under Charles V and VI (1360–1422), funded by CHASE and supported by the Historians of Netherlandish Art. She holds a MA (Distinction) from The Courtauld and a First Class Honours degree from the University of Glasgow.
Research interests focus on metalwork inventories, Northern European medieval art, and technical analysis of materials. She has organized workshops on vitreous enamelling and gilding, and co-founded the research group 'All That Glitters' exploring medieval metals. Her 2024 publication in The Burlington Magazine analyzes a Valencian dish linked to Burgundian patronage.
- Teaching: Delivered courses on French court art (BA3), Gothic art reception (BA2), and coordinated BA1 Foundations lectures.
- Awards: Over 10 scholarships including Ochs (2022), RSA Kress (2022), and CHASE (2018–2021).
