Susannah Emery is a Lecturer of Game Design & Digital Media at UniSA Creative, University of South Australia. She holds a PhD from Curtin University, receiving a Chancellor's Commendation. Her work focuses on leveraging games and digital media to drive social change, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a special emphasis on neurodivergence, disability, gender, and socio-economic inequality.
Her research interests include narrative design, interactive storytelling, and the social impact of games. Emery's projects, such as Hannah: A Friend in Need (2022) and Life (Re)Sounding (2024), explore empathy-building through game mechanics. She is a Women in Games International Ambassador and has received accolades like the 2023 UniSA Unstoppable Awards for Equity & Mid-Career Teaching, and the 2022 Women in Games Global Educator Award.
Emery collaborates with institutions like Epic Games and the ACT Government, contributing to educational and advocacy initiatives. Her teaching integrates interdisciplinary approaches, emphasizing ethical design and social responsibility in digital media.
